OK so we picked a barn builder- Ark Custom Builder- they do nice work,. We selected at 60' x 40' barn, post type of barn with tongue and groove stall....otherwise really bare. Since the Insurance only gave us about $27,000 for a $90,000 barn, we had to get a barn with the insurance amount...but hey, we are at least going in the right direction. Hopefully it will be up in 2.5-3 months and we are on the fast track permits since the original barn was destroyed by fire.
Getty (spouse) is going to pick the color since the color I like (purple) would make him cringe and beside, he is a house painter and does nice house and he does this for a living. I think he will not pick purple though.....
Next item is a double-wide mobile home that will be the replacement for the music studio., This will be next to the barn. It will also serve as storage too.
Anyone know where we can get a decent doublewide and have it move here in May or later? After that is done, then I will arrange my dog kennels/shelters so then almost everything will be done- or close to it. If anyone have decent kennels, available, we need 2 more kennels, 4 dog igloos and a couple of more large crates.
We had three rigs that need to be donated to some good cause. A Mazda Navajo that the left front panel was burned and the tire, any one want it? A Small Nissan pickup with the from part partially burned (panels and hood) is yours if you want it. I think both need new panels, hoods and maybe battery, otherwise the rest of them are just fine. They are just, just let us know. We have a Subaru Legacy that just got a rebuilt tranny and 4 new tires (less than 500 miles on tranny and 100 miles on tires), the back is burned but the tranny, engine, tires etc are all ok. Since we just spent $3000 for the tranny/tires, we would like to sell it for $300. Since I lost my commuter car, I will need to get another commuter car....anyone have one for sale? Good gas mileage and low price?
We are putting up a Thank You list of people on the main website (probably in a week)...and trying to update with pixs as we go along. I still have to add more to the blog but just wanted people to get an idea of what is going on now. We are going to submit our claim to the Insurance...they gave us an estimate of they thought the value was and we are going to counter with our claim......as this tale unfolds we will keep you posted....especially on what they say on our claim.
You know, having Specialized Construction come over and removing the blackened mess and putting clean, fresh gravel has made a world of difference...it make it so less depressing...instead of waking up to smoky smell and seeing the ugly black scar...it looks like a big gravel pad and smell clean. Even when it rains it doesn't smell like smoky crap. Just that in it's self have made the healing go better.
Speaking of healing....having people reach out and help us by hugs, emails/calls, fund raising, donations, care packages, loan of a commuter car, and so forth has made the healing go so much faster, the heartache less painful and the new growth in our life be much smoother.....you always read in the news about bad things, bad people and how people don't care...but having this fire has brought out true human kindness and I know that God will be blessed by these people as they are a true representation of compassion and love and what he speaks about.
That’s all for now and thanks to all of you and love to all of you. Extra thanks to Amy, Jeff, Erin, Audrey, Jeff and Katya, the herding gang - who are my support during this!! Tony and MaryAnn….the chefs. Nelson, the tireless brother. Without your help, this would have been a much rougher ride.
More soon
